🛠️ Model S (Pre-Facelift) Headlight Repair & Upgrade Options
The pre-facelift Model S typically comes with projector-style headlights (HID/LED).
In most cases, issues are caused by a burnt-out HID or LED bulb, and can be resolved by replacing the bulb with one that meets OEM specifications.
However, if the LED DRL light strip (eyebrow) fails, it cannot be repaired or replaced separately — the entire headlight unit must be replaced.
Fortunately, used headlights are widely available and can often be swapped directly.
🚀 Upgrade Options Available
For customers looking to modernise the look and lighting performance, we offer headlight upgrade solutions:
Upgrade from the original “big plug” Gen 1 headlight to the Facelift (FL) Gen 2 version
Or upgrade directly to the latest Gen 3 Matrix (Digital) LED headlights
For compatibility and installation details, feel free to contact us — we’re happy to help you choose the best solution for your vehicle.

💡 Model S (Facelift) Headlight Faults & Replacement Options
The facelift Model S headlights (Gen 2+) commonly experience the following issues:
Low beam not turning on
Daytime running light (DRL or “eyebrow”) discolouration or failure
🔧 Repair vs Replacement
While it’s technically possible to disassemble and attempt a repair using heat guns and force, this is not cost-effective or time-efficient.
We recommend replacing the faulty unit with a brand-new aftermarket upgraded headlight:
Improved LED reliability
Brighter and more durable DRL light strips
Better overall lifespan
⚠️ Important Compatibility Note
For Facelift Model S, you cannot simply install a used headlight from another vehicle.
Each headlight unit has a unique digital ID and must be software paired to your car using Tesla-specific tools.
If the pairing process is skipped or done incorrectly:
The headlight will not turn on
Even the indicator lights may fail to function properly
🔧 We offer headlight replacement with proper pairing and configuration to ensure full functionality.

💡 Model X Headlight Issues & Upgrade Solutions
Common headlight-related faults on the Tesla Model X include:
Low beam not functioning, and in some cases, the rear license plate light remains on even after the vehicle is turned off
DRL (eyebrow) light strip not working or showing discoloration
🔧 Repair vs Replacement
While it is technically possible to disassemble the headlight using heat guns and force, it is not recommended due to high labour time and low cost-efficiency.
We advise replacing the headlight with a brand-new, improved aftermarket unit that offers:
Better LED durability (less likely to burn out)
Brighter, more reliable DRL strips
No need for complex repairs or downtime
⚠️ Important Notes
Most Model X headlights cannot be repaired economically and are sealed units
Replacing with upgraded aftermarket headlights is often the simplest and most reliable solution
